Under 11s win

The Temple Tigers secured their first win of the season with an impressive victory away at BECKINGTON and RODE.  The furthest game to travel to saw The Tigers chase down an imposing total of 263 on a pleasantly warm and bright evening . Coach H arrived with Temple Youth Umpire Father Hayne and Mrs W full of confidence after the previous week’s impressive nets session.

The home team elected to bat first and scored fluently throughout their 20 overs rattling up an impressive 263.

Temple captained by Finn fielded and bowled well –  in fact – very tidily.

Notable performances from Jessie , Captain Finn, Josh, Tom with the ball and a special mention to Anya who kept wicket for the first time doing a great job. The rest of the team to include Isla, Molly, Mitchell, Finn, Charlie, Ned and Tristan all fielded well and contributed with the ball. It was pleasing to see how well the team supported one another throughout the innings with plenty of words of encouragement.

As usual everyone wanted to open the innings however Coach H using his “Ladies First”  tactic decided that the twins Anya and Isla would have the honour.  Their three overs produced 8 runs and set the pattern for the rest of the innings as Coach H aided by his trusty sidekick and friend of 44 years years “Lord Comer Of Chew Magna” (Temple’s Banking Baron) marshaled the batting order to ensure that the overs were spread as evenly as possible between The Tigers Line Up.   Captain Finn and Josh put a flurry of runs on as the second pair out, both hitting some lusty blows and running well between the wickets.  Temple reaching 223 when they came out after 7 overs.

Tom and Ned followed on and again kept the score ticking over.

Finn, Jessie, Tristan and Ned were all equally as successful in helping to maintain a steady run rate which meant that Charlie and Isla (again) went out to bat the last three overs with Temple’s score on 258 needing 264 to win.   The result was never really in doubt as Charlie Foes, the coolest cat in Town along with Isla shared a winning partnership , Temple winning by 1 run !

Once again Molly provided some excellent Chocolate Crispy Cakes which tasted all the more enjoyable savoring a first win.

The Tigers were congratulated by the Rode and Beckington coach on their all round sporting behavior – always nice to hear and a credit to all The Tigers involved in an enjoyable evening .

Special mention to the loyal band of traveling Parents for your continued support. It’s always great to see you getting involved and all the more better when you see them win.

It’s not all about winning but it does help them to enjoy it and as long as they do it means that as parents and coaches we are all doing something right ……
