Next game for the U11s is away to BECKINGTON and RODE on Monday 3rd July. For parents not familiar with the club, the village is on the A36 just after the village of RODE. For those of you brave enough to use Sat Nav the post code is BA11 6SJ.
Basically, get to NORTON ST PHILIP, turn right and keep going until you hit the dual carriageway. Eventually you’ll get to a roundabout with an ESSO GARAGE / service station. Turn right here into the village, the ground is just on the right.
Unfortunately, there was no game on the 26th June owing to Purnells cancelling at 1540 on the day of the game. It would appear that two of their star players were struck down with a mystery stomach virus, one went AWOL with no contact number and someone else got stuck in the mud whilst attempting to leave a plowed field following 5 days at Glastonbury. Personally Coach H came to the conclusion that Purnells chickened out. Anyway, as a result Molly was left with a tin of freshly baked cakes with no prospect of shifting the excess stock. Once again Coach H came to the rescue with a great suggestion … ” Bring them to nets on Thursday ” … Molly didn’t let us down and duly arrived on Thursday with a tin of Chocolate Cornflake Cakes topped with an individual smarty … delicious.
Nets went well as always and it was noted that overall, attendance is showing marked improvement. The evening was rounded off with a rousing chorus of Happy Birthday sung to Father Hayne (Chairman) who was celebrating another 50th birthday and looking remarkably well for it – See you all on Monday at BECKINGTON & RODE
