Commiserations to Chard CC and Long Sutton CC who were only able to amass 49 and 51 in their respective innings yesterday in the Somerset Cricket League. They can find solace in the fact that at least one team (at the time of writing) has scored fewer runs this weekend.
Scenes from Wedmore on Saturday
A mixture of bad luck and poor judgement meant that our bowlers had nothing to bowl at in our game versus Wedmore. The wicket wasn’t a shirt front but it wasn’t the worst either. No excuses really – it just needs to be better.
A comedy run out and two further dismissals saw a ten minute delay before our number 6 batsman could make his way to the wicket having finally donned his pads. Unfortunately for him, he also had to cut short his expensive full colonic irrigation treatment before finally taking guard.
The lengthy delay was graciously accepted by the Wedmore players. They didn’t need the assistance of the laws in harvesting TCCC wickets on this particular Saturday.
In response for TCCC, Simon Feaver showed some pace and danger in his brief spell and Spike accounted for our two points with two wickets.
The Swan provided some much needed reflection time. Interesting facts about Limes disease were shared amongst those present. At least we are all a little more knowledgeable this morning as a result.
Onwards to S&P at Stowey Road next week … and by the way, annual subs are due!
