Playing catch up with this report from 2/6.
Temple won the toss at the pleasant Horrington ground. At the time, Horrington were flying high and Temple had only notched one win in four games.
The toss went Temple’s way and they elected to field. Captain White hoped that Temple’s strong batting should be able to chase on what looked like a good wicket.
A miserly 8 overs from Rich Appleyard went for only 8. Unfortunately, Haydon and Ingram went for 90 plus between them in their combined 13 overs. Feaver bowled well again with 2-25 off his eight. Overall, Temple did well to restrict Horrington to 182 for 7.
Temple were in the game for the most part in the first hour. Ingram was sent on his way, quite literally by Umpire Appleyard for 1. Comer was similarly returned to the hutch for a low score.
Jason Head and Tom Haydon built a reply and White joined Haydon to see Temple very much in the game at this stage.
Sadly, both White (41) and Haydon (54) were dismissed in close succession.
Wilton H and Appleyard R returned to the changing rooms for a pair of ducks and Temple’s chase quickly subsided to 157.
Definitely points thrown away on this occasion. Temple shot them selves in the foot in half a dozen occasions – especially with the bat and when wearing the white coat.
Little did we know that we weren’t destined to play for another three weeks.
