How You Can Help

Youth Cricket starts today!

Sports Masters are back led by Jack Masters supporting a new season of Temple Cloud Youth Cricket. We have been really pleased with the response from the community so far and looking forward to welcoming more parents and children this year!

In terms of frequently asked questions here’s a couple to help:

Where is the Club?

Coming from Temple Cloud head towards Bristol on the A37 and take the left (Stowey Road) past the care home as you come towards Clutton. Then follow Stowey Road round and it’s on your left. Plenty of parking available past the clubhouse and into the grass field opposite.

Travelling from the Chew Valley heading from Bishop Sutton go past the Tennis Club on your left and after a little while take the right up hill (Stowey Road) past the Church and Wyatt’s Farm Shop and Supplies. Follow the road all the way uphill and round to the left at the sharp bend and eventually you will come to the cricket club on your right hand side.

How much does it cost?

Each session is £5 per child or you can pay £55 for the season (12 sessions so saving £5). Each child must also be registered and be a member (registration form available from Dave Willock or on the night) and membership is £10 for the season and covers the whole family including multiple children. We have a card machine at the club to take card payments (when it works!)

What do I need to bring?

Sports kit and trainers, no cricket kit required as we have plenty of that up at the club. Do bring multiple layers for both adults and children as it can get a bit breezy up there! Also bring drinks bottles as required, there is a clubhouse with a bar selling snacks and drinks.

What can I expect?

This year we have split the age groups out for 5-7 year olds to be in slot 5pm-6pm and 8-9 year olds (and perhaps some young 10s) from 6pm-7pm. Under 11s (typically years 5 and 6) and under 13s (years 7, 8 and potentially 9) are 7pm-8pm. In these sessions you can expect fun introductory sessions learning core skills, directed by Jack Masters ECB qualified cricket coach. As individuals move through the age groups you can expect more technical coaching relative to your child’s ability. As it’s our own programme, we can be flexible if children need or want to go into other groups and our key objectives are 1) to engage with the community and give children a positive and fun sporting experience and 2) build our talent pipeline to secure the long term success of the Club.

Do you play matches?

We will have fun matches at times during the coaching sessions whilst our under 11s and under 13s are registered to play in the Pairs League. This is a format designed to be inclusive with 8 players on each side against teams in the area. Rich Appleyard is taking responsibility for the under 11s this year and Simon Curtis is taking responsibility for the under 13s. The fixtures will be posted on the website in due course.

Health & Safety

It is important that the registration forms are completed so that we are aware of any child specific concerns/considerations. As parents please do make coaches and club volunteers aware of health & safety considerations relating to your child. First Aid equipment is held on site and Sports Masters have the relevant first aid training.

Youth Registration

Get ahead of the season!

Friday night youth cricket returns on Friday 29th April. The youngest age group will be from 5pm-6pm (this will either be 5-6 years old or 5-7 year olds), the next age group (7 or 8- 9 year olds) will start at 6pm-7pm. The under 11s and under 13s will run from 7pm – 8pm.

The coaches from Sports Masters will be supporting us again this year, giving our youth players access to qualified coaches supported by volunteers from TCCC.

If you’d like to get ahead of the game, email Dave at dw60883@outlook.com to be sent the youth registration form to save on paper work on the first week.

As a reminder the sessions will be £5 per week running for 12 weeks.

Youth membership is £10 per child for the season.

New Players wanted!

With just under two months to go until the first league games of the season, plenty of time still left for new players to get into the mix at Temple Cloud Cricket Club for the season ahead.

Winter nets continue at Merchant Academy Sports Centre (BS13 9BJ) until mid April on Tuesday night 7pm-8pm.

Outdoor nets will start at Stowey Road (our home pitch just off the A37 between Temple Cloud & Clutton) on Wednesday nights the first week or April.

We are looking for new players for both the 1st team and 2nd team, we also have a social T20 set of fixtures throughout the season on Wednesday nights.

The 1st XI play in the Monmouth Scientific Somerset Premier League and the 2nd XI play in the 5th Division of the same league. The fixtures section has been updated for the 2023 season.

The Premier League is a competitive standard playing at some decent grounds across Somerset, feeding into the Somerset division of the West of England Premier League (WEPL).

The 2nd XI play against a mix of 1st XIs from smaller villages to 2nds/3rds of much larger clubs. Division 5 is a good level for us, all games are relatively competitive whilst still affording plenty of margin for error and lack of mobility/skill.

Drop a line to 2nd team captain, Dave on dw60883@outlook.com or 07792 608825.

2023 Youth Cricket returns!

Following the success of the rebooted 2022 youth cricket programme, we are delighted to confirm that 2023’s programme will be bigger and better.

Providing a positive environment for children across the neighbouring villages to learn the game and then hopefully progress through the ranks has been a central theme of the club’s 100 year plus history.

In 2022 we saw over 50 children participate in our training programme, delivered in collaboration with the qualified coaches at Sports Masters Coaching for the first time. Ranging from 5 years old through to 13, it was great to see both children and their parents engage with the club and the sport, often for the first time.

In 2023 we are pleased to confirm that our partnership with Sports Masters will continue starting from Friday 28th April for 12 weeks. This year we will be breaking the sessions down to:

5 – 6 years old 5pm-6pm

7 – 9 years old 6pm – 7pm

Under 11s and Under 13s – 7pm to 8pm

We are pleased to also confirm that we will be entering teams into both the Under 11 and Under 13s leagues in 2023.

Sessions are priced a £5 per session

£10 junior membership required to cover insurance, facilities etc.

Reasonably priced bar, free pool table, music all available to keep adults entertained too!

KRD Continued support for TCCC

We are incredibly grateful for the additional sponsorship support provided by KRD Tax & Accountancy Services this season. The money provided has helped to expand our youth offering this season and allowed us to bring in a qualified youth coach. Thanks Karen, pictured here with the 1st XI.

August Youth Cricket Camp @ TCCC!

Following the success of Friday Night youth cricket at Temple Cloud CC, Sports Masters are delivering a summer cricket camp at Stowey Road.

Running on 9th, 10th and 11th August from 0900 until 1500 at a cost of £18 per day for ages 5 through to 11.

Winter Nets 2023

Adult Winter Nets are up and running and are held on Tuesday evenings from 7pm to 8pm at Merchants Academy Sports Centre : Molesworth Drive, Withywood, Bristol, BS13 9BJ.

It’s £5 a session and no experience or skill required by the look of it from the sessions so far! We have a mix of 1st and 2nd team players and those looking to get back into cricket after some time away from the game. With two nets each week, plenty of opportunity to bat and bowl.

All good fun, no stress running from December through to April, at which point we will move outdoors to the fine nets at Stowey Road on Wednesday nights when there isn’t a mid week t20 game.

All are welcome to attend and new members will be made especially welcome.

Friday Night Youth Cricket

Temple Cloud CC is the place to be on a Friday night these days with nearly 100 parents & children coming through the doors either for the 5-9 year old cricket coaching from 6-7pm or the Under 11s and Under 13s from 7pm-8pm.

Sports Masters coaches have been supporting children from across the ages, abilities and genders and the kids have been having a great time making new friends and learning new skills.

Whilst the 5-9 year old age group is now full, the under 11s and under 13s are still actively seeking new players so why not come down and give it a go?

The bar is well stocked for parents too, a fine way to spend an evening.
